How it works
The Local Food Box Program is a marketing partnership between Metchosin farmers that offers eaters an opportunity to conveniently access local food while directly supporting local producers.
Participants in the Local Food Box program receive a food box from June to late September, for a total of 16 weeks. You can customize the contents of your food box with the following options:
- Organically grown fruits and vegetables (weekly)
- Metchosin-raised meats (bi-weekly)
- Free-range eggs (weekly)
- Locally grown whole-wheat flour and wheat berries
The contents of the meat and veggies options are prepared by the farmers according to what is in season or in stock.
Boxes are available for pick-up either:
1) On Mondays in Victoria, from 5 to 6PM, at the Cook Street Village Activity Centre: 380 Cook Street
2) On Wednesdays in Victoria, from 5 to 6PM, at the Victoria West Community Center: 521 Craigflower Rd
3) On Fridays in Metchosin, from 4 to 5PM, at Wind Whipped Farm: 4645 B William Head Road.
